NORTH RICHLAND HILLS LIBRARY COMMISSION
March 26, 1980
The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Charles Brinkley, President.
Members present were:
Mrs. Brinkley Dr. Norman Ellis
Mrs. Mattie Belle Lewis Dr. Ron Smotherman
The minutes of the last meeting were read; Dr. Ellis moved they be
accepted as read, Dr. Smotherman s~conded. Minutes were approved.
Mrs. Prewitt reported that a check for 55,550 from the Tarrant County
Conimissioners had been received. This was an 8% increase, or t412
more than received last year. As this was an unbudgeted increase,
Mrs. Prewitt reported that she had requested that this 5412, plus
funds left unexpended in the budgeted furniture and equipment fund,
be used to purchase tao additional cassette display panels. The
City Manager had brought this to the City Council for approval and
they had approved it. The panels have been ordered.
Mrs. Prewitt announced that plans are b~ing made for the Summer Reading
programs for the summer. School participation in use of the library is
increasing as Holiday Neights and W. A. Porter have asked that all the
third gr~de pupils get a library card.
Mrs. Prewitt reminded the board that expiration of terms would be May
1st and that the last board meeting for the board would be in April.
Appointments to the board would be sometime during the summer.
Mrs. Prewitt handed out flyers to board mAmbers to place in churches
to advertise ].ibrary services as a part of National Library Week
publicity.
The video-cassette program to be begun by the library on April 15th
was explained to the board. This program, funded by the North Texas
Library System, will bring video-cassette packets of twenty movies
into the library to be circulated for tw~o months before receiving
a new packet and mailing the old packet onto another library. The
board discussed the video cassette policy as written by Mrs. Prewitt.
Dr. Ellis moved that the policy be approved; Dr. Smotherman seconded
the motion and the board voted approval.
The revision of the lost book/aud~.ovisual materials policy was discussed.
Dr. Ellis moved for approval, seconded by Mrs. Lewis. The motion passed.
