April 22, 1981
The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Charles Brinkley. Mrs. Mattie
Belle Lewis and Lyn O'Day were also present.
The minutes of the last meeti.ng were read; Mrs. Lewis moved they be
approved, Mrs. O'Day seconded. Motion passed.
Mrs. Prewitt reported that she attended the Texas Library Association
Convention at Houston March 31st to April 3rd. The most impprtant
project of the meeting was the develo~ament of a political gction
committee. TLA has decided to continue to push for a bigger voice
by librarians in influencing the Leqislature to fund libraries more
per capita than in the past. Mrs. Prewitt also reported that Helen
Grove of Haltom City is looking for someone from our area to be a
contact person in mativating others to write, speak, or call their
legislator. She suggested that ~f anyone on the board knew of
anyone besides Marian Bradford o~ Jan ~aniels who might be interested
to let her know.
Mrs. Prewitt announced that the firm af Rauscher Pierce Refsnes, Inc.
will be holding a series of seminars on financial planning during
June. This is the same series as was held at the Hurst Public Library.
Mrs. Prewitt reported that a salesman fox the New York Graphic Society,
with offices in the World Trade Mart, has invited the board over to
visit May 18th. He is interested in selling the library art ~rorks to
check out to the public. This would be for a two month (or one month)
check out period. After some discussion Mrs. Brinkley and Mrs. O'Day
said they would like to visit the office to determine if this would be
a project for ~he library.
Since there was not a quorum present, Mrs. Prewitt asked that the
decision on whether or not library cards should be issued the
last fifteen minutes the library is open.l,~,` ,
