NORTH RICHLAND HILLS LIBRARY CONII~iISSION
March 25, 1981
The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Charles Brinkley with the following
present:
Mrs. Brinkley Mrs. Jan Daniels
Mattie Belle Lewis Ron Smotherman
S. K. Baker J. Fred Davis
Norma Thompson
The minutes of the last meeting were read; Mr. Baker moved they be approved,
Mrs. Lewis seconded. Motion passed.
Mrs. Prewitt report~d that for FY 1981-82 there would be no money through
the North Texas Library System for books as the share apportioned to the
library is going to be used for the beginning of an automation project
by the System. The system plans to use funds this year to hire a systems
analyst to design a program. Other plans by the system include the
purchase of video programming. Mrs. Prewitt reported that the funding
this year from the Tarrant County Com~issioners will remain ~he same
as last year, 55,550.00. Mrs. Prewitt also presented the board with
the February financial report. Expenditures for the year were explained.
The budget for F'7C 1981-82 was presented to the board for approval. Mrs.
Lewis moved that the budget be approved; Rev. Smotherman ~~donded the
motion; motion passed.
Mrs. Prewitt reported that to publicize how many books had been purchased
with Library and Park funds, a bulletin board with the total would
be put up in city hall. As new books are added the total will be changed.
Mrs. Daniels sugqested to spread the word better, the information be
printed on the back of the water bills. Mr. Baker suggested that a
monthly article appear in the North Richland Hills News to not only
advertise the Library and Park Fund but other information aboutthe
library.
Mrs. Thompson reported that the Friends of the Library have 553~.84 left
in their fund. She also report~d that members had been contacted to
bring Dr. Pepper bottle caps to the library. Mrs. Daniels suggested
that f~irl ~couts or Camp Fire Girls be called to help sort out the
caps. Mrs. Brinkley requested all members bring their bottle caps
to the librarnr this next month.
Mrs. Prewitt reported that during National Library Week there should be
an advertisement regarding it on Blackhawk Cable Company chanels. In
the library videocassettes will be shown and some cable TV programs.
