NORTN RICHLAND HILLS LIBRARY COMMISSION
February 25, 1981
The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Charles 8rinkley with the
following present: ~

The minutes of the last meeting were read; Mrs. ~leerfs r~ved they be approved
as read. Mrs. Daniels s~conded; motion passed.
Mrs. Prewitt said that instead of making a further report, the monthly reports
included in their agenda packet would serve as all other business would
be taken vp later. She reported that she had handed out to members a
letter explaining why members need to keep writing their state representa~ives
to get dollar per ca~ita library funding. A list of house and senate
members was attached. Mrs. Prewitt also reported that the North Texas
Library System Advisory Council is organizing lay representatives from
geographic districts of th~ system to keep abreast of legislative measures
and lobby for incr~~sed library funding. Mrs. Daniel read a let~er she
received from Senator Jones in reply to her mail-a-gram requesting the
Senate Finance Committee consid~r increased library funding. Mrs. O'Day
asked if it wo~ld be possible for members to be notified when legislation
of interest is being considered. Mrs. Prewitt said that the system
committee would be notifying someone to make calls; the line of
communications would be set up by the next council meeting March 26th.
Mrs. Prewitt presented the board with the furniture and equipment
budget requirements and justifications as reported to the city manager.
The c+~mplete budget would be presented later in the spring. Mrs.
Prewitt also reported that she had requested one more Library Assistant I
for the next budget year, but due to work load had asked for the
position to be c~n~cE~ered sooner.
Mrs. Prewitt annaunced that the Tarrant Regional Library Association will
have its meeting May 1S~th in our library. Donations from Mrs. Brinkley
of four books and the gift from American Airlines of over 100 magazine
holders was also announced.
Mrs. Thompson reported that she would have a financial report at the
next meeting and that the Friends will have a spring meeting.
