March 22, 1983
The meeting of the North Richland Hills Library Commission was brought to order
by Chairperson Lynn 0'Day.
The following members were present:
Polly Brinkley
Vincent Darrough
Marie Hinkle, council liaison
Tiffany Nourse
Lynn 0'Day
Absent: Jan Daniels, Mattie Belle Lewis and Jim Tucker
The minutes of the February 23, 1983 meeting were approved as submitted.
Update of the Director's Report:
Tiffany Nourse reported that new carpet had been installed in the library.
The installation had gone very smoothly, but the library staff was glad to
have the shelving and books back in order again.
A new Book Discussion group will meet at the Trinity Arts Center, Bedford
Boys Ranch on March 25, 1983. The first book review, Elizabeth Forsyth
Hailey's A Woman of Independent Means will be given by Katie MacDonald.
The group is open to the public.
Old Business:
~ It was reported that the Needs Assessment Committee had met on February 10,
1983 and the Community Survey is progressing on schedule.
Vincent Darrough was introduced as a new member of the North Richland Hills
Library Commission. R. P. Vinall's application for membership was returned
to the Commission.
New Business:
The Library Director reported that the annual report for the library had
been submitted to the Texas State Library.
The Commission members discussed how to honor the Library Volunteers during
National Library Week in April. It was decided that punch and cookies will
be served at Lynn 0`Day's home Wednesday, April 20, 1983, at 1:30 p.m.*
Award certificates will be given to volunteers who have given 100 or more
hours of service to the library. Invitations will be sent to all volunteers,
Commission members, Mayor Faram, Rodger Line and council members.
It was reported that the North Richland Hills Civic Association is planning
to disband, and Treasurer Cullen Turner has indicated to the Library
Director that the Association would like to donate $1,067 to the library.
With these funds, Tiffany Nourse stated she would like to purchase a two
drawer file for the Reference Department. There is also a need for three
study carrels for students to use while in the library. The study carrels
will be plated as being donated by the North Richland Hills Civic Association.

The Library Commission still has one vacancy for a new member. It
was suggested that Mr. Robert Courser be asked to fill out an
application blank.
The next meeting of the North Richland Hills Library Commission will be
Tuesday, April 26, 1983, at 3:30 p.m.
