Home My WebLink AboutLIB 1983-02-23 Minutes North Richland Hills Library Commission Minutes February 23, 1983 The meeting of the North Richland Hills Library Commission was brought to order by Chairperson Lynn 0'Day. The following members were present: Polly Brinkley Mattie Belle Lewis Tiffany Nourse Lynn 0'Day Jim Tucker Members absent: Jan Daniels and Council liaison Marie Hinkle. The minutes of the January 26, 1983 meeting were approved as submitted. Update of the Director's Report: The Library Director reported that the Outlet Mall on Rufe Snow Drive has agreed to let the Friends of the North Richland Hills Library conduct their annual book sale in October on their premises if no book dealers open a store between now and then. Tiffany Nourse expressed her thanks to the Friends of the North Richland Hills Library for the drapes that were purchased for the Director's office from part of the 1982 book sale receipts. She reported that the Technical Services room and her office had been painted. Within 4-6 weeks new carpet will be installed in the library and City Hall. The fresh look in the library will be most appreciated. Old Business: It was reported that the Needs Assessment Committee had met on February 10 and had approved three types of surveys (Citizen's Survey, User's Survey, and Staff Survey) to be passed out to respective participants. Tabulation of the surveys will begin March 1. The results will be reported to the Library Commission at a later date. New Business: Lynn 0'Day read a letter of resignation from Ron Smotherman. In this letter Ron announced that a change of careers has prompted this decision. He also expressed his regret at leaving the Commission on which he has enjoyed serving since September, 1976. The names of R.P. Vinall and Vincent Darrough as applicants for Library Commission members were approved by general consent of the members present. Their applications will be presented to the City Council for approval. Taping programs to be shown on Citicable 36 is now being done on Wednesday afternoons in Room 100 of the library. The members discussed setting a new meeting date other than on the fourth Wednesday. It was - decided to~meet in~Room 100 on Tuesday, March 22, 1983, at 3:30 p.m. on a trial basis.
