Home My WebLink AboutLIB 1983-01-26 Minutes NORTH RICHLAND HILLS LIBRARY COMMISSION MINUTES ` January 26, 1983 The meeting of the North Richland Hills Library Commission was brought to order by Jan Daniels in the absence of Chairperson Lynn 0'Day. The following members were present: - Jan Daniels Ron Smotherman Marie Hinkle Jim Tucker Tiffany Nourse Members absent: Polly Brinkley, Mattie BeZle Lewis and Lynn 0'Day. The minutes of the November 17, 19$2 meeting were approved as submitted. Update of the Director's Report: Tiffany Nourse reported that new library hours had started January 1, 19$3 and the Iibrary had received good response from its patrons on them. The Thursday and Saturday changes are 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., and 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., respectively. The Board members were thanked by the Library Director for the re- freshments they had provided for the Tarrant Regional Library Asso- ciation (TRLA) meeting that was held in the NRH Public Library Friday, January 21, 1983. It was announced that Cable Coordinator Jeff Jones will start trans- mitting on Citicable 36, 2~ hours of programming which will be repeated for a total of 6 hours per week starting February 1, 1983. New $usiness: The Director reported on the progress of the NRH Library Needs Assessment Committee, a group of citizens who met January 20, 1983 to consider the current library needs of our community. Following the guidelines set up by ALA for such a study, the Committee received and finalized a citizen questionnaire, planned its distribution and agreed to meet February lOth to draw up a com- munity profile. The data compiled from these studies will help the Committee prepare short-and Iong-term library goals and ob- jectives to recommend to the Library Commission for imgZementation. It was reported by the Library Director that N.E. Mall will not allow any more book sales on its premises. The Board was asked to help locate a site for the annual library Book Sale in October. The next meeting of the Library Commission wi11 be in the library, Wednesday, February 23, 1983 at 3:30 p.m. Adjournment.
