HomeMy WebLinkAboutLIB 1984-11-28 Minutes North Richland Hills Library Board Minutes November 28, 1984 Chairman Bob Courser brought the North Richland Hills Board meeting to order on Wednesday, November 28, 1984. The minutes of October 24 ~ were approved as submitted. The land dispute between the owners and North Richland Hills will go to court in December and possibly be finalized by January 1. The land is located on Watauga Road and it is hoped that a new central library can be built there if North Richland Hills is able to purchase it. The library staff will host a Christmas luncheon for its volunteers on Thursday, December 13 at 12 noon. The luncheon will be a way to show appreciation for the dedicated library work they do. The new library card for the automated circulation system was shown to • the Board. The new library Compensatory Time Policy was reviewed by the members. Mickey Oxford moved to adopt the policy; seconded by Mattie Belle Lewis. Motion carried. A discussion followed on the draft for new Meeting Room Guidelines and the Reservation Procedures For Use of Library Meeting Room. It was pointed out that Citicable 36 has taken most of the room over with cable _ equipment. This equipment is sometimes in open view of the public when the Meeting Room is in use. It was decided that the former City Resolution needs to be revised. Polly Brinkley moved to approve the Library Meeting Room Guidelines as amended; seconded by Mattie Belle Lewis. Motion carried. A copy of the Guidelines is attached. It was also suggested that a Responsible Person Form be drawn up for the signature of the person responsible for any damages. , Mickey Oxford moved that the Library Director prepare a P.esolution for the City Council which would show the Board's grave concern about the use of Meeting Room 100 by the public due to the expensive Citicable 36 equipment stored there; seconded by Kay Schmidt. Motion carried. Recently, the NTLS Lay Representative, Lynn 0'Day,voted with the other representatives to change North Texas Library System to a non-profit organization. The proposal will be voted on soon by various City Councils in the area. The results will be presented to the Texas State Library by February 7, 1985. NRH Library Board Minutes Page 2 November 28, 1984 Mrs. Nourse reported that the City Council approved a request for the Library to be closed for two weeks when the library collection is " relabeled for the automated circulation system. This will be done in late January or early February. A GED &'ABE course for the public will begin at the North Richland Hills Public Library in January, 1985. A training session for anybody interested in teaching a course will be held in Room 100, December 6 from 6-9 p.m. There will not be another Board meeting until January 23, 1985.
