Home My WebLink AboutLIB 1984-05-23 Minutes North Richland Hi11s Library Board May 23, 1984 ` The North Richland Hills Library Board met in Room 100 of the Library on Wednesday, May 23, 1984, at 3:30 p.m. The meeting was brou~ht to order by Chairman Vic Darrough with the following members present: Polly Brinkley Bob Courser Jan Daniels Vic Darrough Mattie Be21e Lewis Tiffany Nourse Lynn 0'Day Ka.y Schmidt The minutes of the April 25, 1984 meeting were approved as submitted. Reports: The annual reception for Library Volunteers held on Wednesday, May 9th at the home of Polly Brinkley was greatly appreciated by the volunteers. Board members were thanked for furnishing refreshments and for making the reception such a success. OId Business: Because of a change in residency, Chairman Vic Darrough will not be able to serve on the Library Board another term. Lynn 0'Day moved to recommend the name of Mickey ~ford to the City Council for approval. The motion was seconded by Mattie Belle Lewis; motion approved. The names of Polly Brinkley, Jan Daniels, and Lynn 0'Day will also be recommended to the Council for reappointment. It was reported that the recommended fine schedule change has been approved by the City Council. The new fines will be e£fective August 1, 1984, after they have been promoted to the public. July will be amnesty month, when all fines on returned library materials will be forgiven. A copy of the new fine schedule is attached. New Business: On May 22 the Library's needs for the next 10 to 15 years were presented to the North Richland Hills Planning and Zoning Board by Lynn 0'Day. Kay Schmidt and Tiffany Nourse also represented the Library. The Planning and Zoning Board are preparing the first draft of a Comprehensive Master Plan. A copy of the report presented is attached. Chairman Vic Darrough expressed his appreciation to the Library Board for its cooperation during his term of office. A motion was made that Bob Courser serve as chairman and Kay Schmidt as Vice-Chairman for 1984-85. The motion had an unanimous second. Bob Courser, new chairman for the Library Board, presented Vic Darrough with an engraved book mark/letter opener in appreciation of his time served. Adjournment: Unless a special meeting needs to be called, the next Library Board meeting date wi1Z be Wednesday, September 26, 1984. Bob Courser ad~ourned the meeting at 4:25 p.m.
