Library Board Minutes
July 31, 1985
Chairman Ka.y Schmidt called the North Richland Hills Library Board
meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 1985.
The minutes of June 19, 1985 were approved as printed.
The Library Director's reports are attached. June, 1985 had a record
circulation of 21,258.
In response to a question from Lynn 0'Day, the director reported that 38~
of the library's registered borrowers are non-residenCs (20~ from Watauga;
18q other).
The chairperson and director reported on the bond referendum task force
meetings during the months of June and July, resulting in the CIP task _
force's recommendation to the North Richland Hi11s City Council that the
Richland Hills Church of Christ be purchased as the city library. The
City Council has set a bond referendum of $40,000,000, including $2.5 million
for the purchase and renovation of the church for a library. The elec-
tion will be held on Tuesday, September 10, from 7 a.~. to 7 p.m. at City
Hall. Absentee balloting will be from August Z1 to September 6, 8 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, in the Eity Secretary's office.
With no Old Business to discuss, the chairperson moved to New Business.
V ~ Lynn 0'Day was re-appointed Lay Representative on the North Texas Library
System Advisory Board.
, Mickey Oxford explained his plans for the "Vote Library" Conunittee
including teiephane calls, mailings to library patrons, and block parties.
He will be contacting suggested committee members to meet at his home on
Thursday, August 8, at 7:30 p.m.
The next Library Board meeting will be held September 25 at 3:30 p.m..
The meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
