HomeMy WebLinkAboutTCA 1998-03-23 Minutes City of North Richland Hifls Teen Court Advisory Board Meeting Minutes March 23, 1998 Present Lynn Simpson, Ron Moore, Kathy Graves, Kent Choate, Sabrina Lopez, Luci Wolfe, Jim Wilkins Absent Oscar Trevino Meeting Called to Order 6:00 Approval of last meetings minutes The minutes for March were approved and accepted unanimously by the board. Old Business Teen Court Coordinator reported the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner for Teen Court was a success. Teen Court Coordinator expressed a desired to this annualfy. The board unanimously agreed. All board members present expressed their appreciation for the recognition. Teen Court Coordinator reported a positive response for agencies present and regret from agencies not able to attend but all were thankful for the recognition. Teen Court Coordinator's report on the Teen Appreciation Dinner was plans are not finalized and should be by next meeting. It was discussed and voted on to delay the purchase of some the items requested in the discretionary budget: the display board and the digital camera. Jim Wilkins explained that he and Jackie have begun discussing the budgetary process that Jackie will attend al! city budgetary meetings and submit a budget. The board wiN be notified of funds requested by the Teen Court Coordinator and funds actuafly received from the city. Teen Court's Wish list items are to be included in the 1998-1999 budget request. The Teen Court golf tournament has been cancelled with no penalties to us. Teen Court will request to have a spot or column in the City newsletter. In April, Teen Court will make history, by having 3 sessions instead of 2. Minutes: March 23, 1998 Page 2 New Business Teen court will participate in Adopt-A-Highway program. Mid-Cities Blvd from Rufe snow to Holiday Ln will be adopted by Teen Court. Every second Saturday of the month the teens will clean that area. This event is to be supervised by the CPA Alumni Assn. It was brought to the coordinator's attention that Community Enrichment Center will allow teen to work evening hours with parental supervision. Jim Wilkins reminded the board to develop unique criteria for our scholarship program. He offered his help in the endeavor as he is on a scholarship committed for another organization. Kent Choate reminded us that the City Council is supposed to recognize our teens at council meeting sometime in April. All board members will seek to find out of this is still true and when it will take place. Adjournment 7:09
