HomeMy WebLinkAboutTCA 1998-04-27 Minutes City of North Richland Hills Teen Court Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Aprii 27, 1998 Present Lynn Simpson, Ron Moore, Kathy Graves, Kent Choate, Sabrina Lopez, Luci Wolfe, Oscar Trevino, Jim Wilkins Meeting Called to Order 6:05 Approval of last meetings minutes The minutes for March were approved and accepted unanimously by the board. Coordinator announced tentative place for teen attorney banquet: The Ballpark in Arlington. Coordinator asked if anyone had access or knew of someone who had access to a suite at the park and would be willing to let the teens use it for the banquet. Oscar Trevino and Jim Wilkins said they had contacts they would speak with about this matter. Old Business Teen Court Coordinator's reported the Teen Appreciation Dinner plans are not finalized and should be by next meeting. Coordinator reported that she had completed and submitted the teen court budget and would present it to them for review at the next meeting. Coordinator reminded board that tonight is when Council will recognize Teen Court attorneys. New Business The coordinator discussed revising the discipline grid. The board agreed to do so at next meeting. Coordinator announced that the attorney training was a success. There were four new attorneys present. Mr. Trevino was present at the training and thought the training went welf, also. It was discussed and decided that expanding the board was not a good idea. It was felt that solicitation of adutt volunteers was needed. One suggestion to find adult volunteers is the senior citizens centers. The coordinator will look into doing so. The dress code was discussed. The board voted agreeing to keep the current dress code. The board also decided to begin to strict{y enforce that dress code, with exceptions to be made by the coordinator. Minutes: Aprii 27, 1998 Page 2 Suggestions to help those unable to abide by dress code due to financial strain: adopt a voucher system, develop a contract with community enrichment center, allow those teens to come as they are. It was also stated that the male teen attorneys dress more appropriately than the female attorneys. The coordinator will discuss this with the attorneys.
