CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Sally Hackfeld called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Members Present: Sally Hackfeld, Chairperson Bill Biggers, Commissioner Larry Bracke, Commissioner Ralph Swearingin, Commissioner Dennis York, Commissioner Others Present: Linda Cast, Human Resource Specialist 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Larry Bracke made the FOR FEBRUARY 8,1994 motion to approve the minutes of the meeting held February 8, 1994, seconded by Commissioner Bill Biggers. Commissioners Hackfeld, Bracke, Biggers, and Dennis York voted for, Commissioner Ralph Swearingin abstained. Motion carried. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Discussion was held concerning Item 4 FOR FEBRUARY 21,1994 in the minutes. Correction was made to reflect the motion as follows: "After deliberation, the Commission reconvened. Commissioner Bill Biggers read the interpretation that the written qualifier will be considered to be equal to each individual exercise from the Assessment Center. If there were four exercises in the Center, and the written exam, each would carry a weight of 20~. Commissioner Bracke made the motion to approve the interpretation, seconcled by Commissioner Biggers. Motion carried by unanimous vote." Commissioner Bracke made the motion to approve the corrected minutes, Commissioner Biggers seconded. Commissioners Bracke, Biggers, and Hackfeld voted yes, Commissioners York and Swearingin abstained. Motion carried. 4. COST-OF-LIVING The commissioners reviewed the Consumer Price Index (CPI) provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, dated February, 1994. The Dallas-Fort Worth area showed a 2.8~ increase for the preceding 12 month period. After discussion, Commissioner Swearingin made the motion to recommend at least 2.8~ cost-of-living increase to the City Council, seconded by Commissioner Biggers. Commissioners Swearingin and Biggers voted yes, Commissioners Bracke and York voted no, Chairperson Hackfeld voted yes to break the tie. Motion carried. 5. SALARY SURVEY REVIEW Withdrawn from the agenda. 6. NEW BUSINESS Chairperson Hackfeld made an official request that the Commission meet with City Attorney Rex McEntire and Human Resource Director Ron McKinney to discuss the duties and responsibilities of the Commission. 6.
