CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Phelps called the meeting to order at 6:3Q P.M. 2. ROLL CALL: Members Present: Dave Phelps, Chairman George Pederson, Vice-Chairman Bob Roark, Commissioner Jeff Newsom, Cammissioner Lyle Welch, Commissioner Qthers Present: Rodger N. Line, City Manager Ron McKinney, Civil Service Secretary 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Newsom moved, seconded by Vice-Chairman FOR APRIL 1, 1986 Pederson to approve the minutes of April 1, 1986. Motion carried unanimously. 4. REQUEST TO RE- After hearing the request to reconsider their recommendation CONSIDER C.O.L.A. of April 1 for a 2.5~ C.O.L.A. for 1986/87, the Commission RECOMMENDATION FOR decided to hold with that recommendation. The request to 1986j87 reconsider died for lack of a motion. However, the Commission suggested that employses should continue to receive their earned merit pay after they reach the top of their salary range. The Commission suggested that when an employees earned merit increase would take the employees salary above their salary range, the amount of inerit pay in excess of the employees range maximum could be paid in a lump sum, apart from the employees regular pay. ~ Rodger Line asked the Commission if they would have a problem if he recommended a 49 C.O.L.A. to the City Council along with the Commissions recommended 2.5~. The Commission had no problem in that re~ard. Rodger felt that the Com- missions recommendation should be placed in writing for his presentation to the Council. Chairman Phelps agreed to deliver the Gommissions written recommendation to Ron. 5. CONSIDERATION OF The Commission considered the employee benefits for 1986i87. EMPLOYEE BENEFITS Commissioner Newsom moved, seconded by Chairman Phelps, that FOR 1986/87 the employee benefits remain unchanged for 1986/87. Motion carried unanimously. 6. ADJOURNMENT Chairman Phelps adjourned the meeting at 9:00 P.M. ~ Chairman Ron McKinney, Civil Service Secretary
