CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS
August 29, 1980
7:30 A.M.
This Emergency (closed) meeting was called at the request of the
City Manager for Personnel Action.
COMMISSION MIEMBERS PRESENT
Bob L. Nenderson, Chairman
Bi11 J. Betts, Vice Chairman
Helen Cline, Civil Service Secretary
OTHERS PRESENT
C. W. Williams, City Manager
Jack Long, Acting Police Chief
AGENDA ITEM 1. Adoption of Ordinance No. 836-
City Manager, Chuck Williams requested by memo
CMM-0027-80 that the ordinance be brought before
the Civil Service Commission. The City Council
approved on August 21 of deleting.three classifi-
cations within the Police Department.
1. tieutenant
2. Corporal
3. Detective
The classification of Police Officer III remains as
a Civil Service position.
Previous legal advice was that a memo to the
Civil Service Corr~nission would be sufficient,
however, at this time the legal advice is that
the Commission should make approval of the new
ordinance.
New departments were also created by the ordinance
and the four department chiefs will be non-civil
service positions. No salary has been changed;
they will remain unchanged until October 1.
Vice Chairman Bill Betts made the motion that
Ordinance No. 836 be in all things ratified and
approved. Bob Henderson seconded the motion;
motion carried by a vote of 2- 0.

AGENDA ITEM 2. Adoption of City Manager's Letter of August 28,
1980 (CMM-0027-80) -
Vice Chairman Bill Betts made a motion that the
changes set out in the August 27, 1980 letter,
(CMM-0027-80) to this Cor~nission from the City
Manager be approved.
Chairman Bob Henderson seconded the motion; motion
carried by a vote of 2- 0.
ADJOURNMENT: Bill Betts made a motion to adjourn the meeting
at approximately 7:40 a.m. The meeting was
adjourned.
