HomeMy WebLinkAboutCIV 1980-04-08 Minutes ~ CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION APRIL 8, 1980 The Civil Service Commission met at 7:00 p.m, for their regularly scheduled meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Vice Chairman Bill Betts made a motion to approve the Minutes of the meeting on February 12, 1980, as presented. Chairman Bob Henderson seconded the motion; motion carried by unanimous vote. ROLL CALL: COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT Bo Hen erson, C airman Bill Betts, Vice Chairman Helen Wright, Civil Service Secretary OTHERS PRESENT Dawn n erson, Library Marilyn Ellis, Library Chairman Bob Henderson recognized and welcomed the visiting employees. AGENDA ITEM 2. Com etitive Surve s for Salaries - A copy o the North Central Texas Regional Municipal Salary Survey was presented by Mrs. Wright, Civil Service Secretary. The Commission instructed the Secretary to relate our City`s job classifications to those in the survey; also, to contact the Cities of Hurst, Bedford and Haltom City for their present pay scale to be considered in our comparison of salaries. Vice Chairman Bill Betts made a motion to defer Item 2 until the relation of job classes has been made, and cost of training reports are received from the Police and Fire Departments, as well as surveys from the neighboring cities. Minutes April 8, 1980 Page 2 Chairman Bob Henderson seconded the motion; motion carried by unanimous vote. AGENDA ITEM 3. Flow of Pa erwork for New Hires - Chairman Bob Hen erson made the motion: "That all personnel change forms, which are initiated by the respective department head, for all new hires, transfers, and promotions should flow, (along with all other paperwork involved, including physicals, if applicable) from the proper department in this order: Department Head, City Manager, Civil Service Secretary for final review of all documents, and upon approval the Civil Service Secretary will take the proper paperwork to the Finance Director for payroll purposes; the remaining papers are filed with the Civil Service Secretary." The motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Bill Betts; motion carried by unanimous vote. The Commission instructed the Secretary to prepare a memo to the City Manager with copies to the department heads and the Mayor, submitting the motion made above as a directive or policy.
