The Civil Service Commission scheduled a special meeting for Friday at 5:30 p.m. for action on the one sub3ect of reinstating former employee, Jimmy Bowen, who had resigned and served in the Armed Forces. ROLL CALL: MEMBERS PRESENT Bob L. Henderson, Vice Chairman William C. Moore Helen Cline, Civil Service Secretary Mr. Bill Betts was unable to attend. AGENDA: Reemployment of Jimmy Bowen - The Commission discussed the facts that Jimmy Bowen was previously employed in our Police Department as an officer. Also, was informed that he has recently made application for reinstatement as a Police Officer. The Commission reviewed the Federal Law pertaining to employers' obligations for reinstating veterans, provided they meet the minimum requirements for the position. The Co~ission scheduled revisions to our current Rules and Regulations to be considered at the next regular meeting, September llth, 1979. In the interim the appointment of Jimmy Bowen as a Police Officer will be aceomplished. A letter was drafted to the City Manager with this recommendation. Mr. Moore made a motion to accept the letter with the secretary`s signature. Mr. Henderson seconded the motion; motion carried by a vote of 2- 0. A motion for ad~ournment was made and seconded; the meeting adjourned at approximately 6:30 p.m. Y ~ . en ine, Civil Service Secretary
