HomeMy WebLinkAboutCIV 1978-04-25 MinutesCIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS April 25, 1978 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at approximately 7:30 p.m., by Chairman Leslie Trotter, in Room 100. ROLL CALL: COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT Leslie A. Trotter, Chairman William C. Moore Helen Cline, Civil Service Secretary OTHERS PRESENT Employees APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mr. Moore made a motion to accept the Minutes as written for the previous meeting. Mr. Trotter seconded the motion; voting was 2 - 0. AGENDA ITEM 1. New Job Description, Library Assistant I - Mr. Moore made a motion to accept the job description as it was submitted, with the addition of requiring typing skill of 40 wpm net. Mr. Trotter seconded the motion; voting was 2 - 0. AGENDA ITEM 2. Report on Area Standby Compensation - A general discussion was held and a study of the surveys from eight cities in the area was reviewed. The Commission concluded by stating that they plan to make a recommendation to the Council for standby allowance and beepers, in addition to the overtime. AGENDA ITEM 3. Adding the Longevity Plan to the Rule Book - The Commission will consider a draft of the Longevity Plan which is currently in effect, however, it has not been made a part of the Civil Service Rule Book. This will be included on the next CS agenda with a report on how it applies to the CS Secretary. AGENDA ITEM 4. Revision of the Rule for Tuition Reimbursement - The Commission agrees that the procedure for tuition reimbursement should be changed in the Rule Book and such a revision will be considered at the next regular meeting. It will begin with a recommendation for approval /disapproval by the Department Head, with,, his /her reasons stated, with the Commission having final authority for approval. It will require submission of a degree plan when applicable, and also allowing for individual courses to be approved. 1— Minutes April 25, 1978 Page 2 AGENDA ITEM 5. A Study of Salaries and Adjustments for Inequities The Commission desired more time to compile additional information for the study of salaries. Mr. Moore made a motion to table Item 5 until the next meeting. Chairman Trotter seconded the motion; voting was 2 - 0. A motion for adjournment was made and seconded.
