Moore called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in Room 100 of the Municipal Complex Building, located at 7301 Northeast Loop 820. ROLL CALL: COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT William C. Moore, Chairman Doug M. Carter, Vice Chairman Leslie Trotter Helen Cline, Secretary OTHERS PRESENT Ray Britton, Director of Public Works ~ Dale E. Ko~is, Appellant Chairman Moore inquired as to whether the Appellant was represented by counsel. The Appellant answered that his attorney would not be present to represent him and that he would have no witnesses on his behalf. The Chairman read into the record the letter from Mr. Ray Britton, stating the basis for the indefinite suspension. The appeal was also read into the record and discussed. It was pointed out that Ko3is did not actually appeal the indefinite suspension; he did not ask for his ~ob back. The Commission quesrioned Ko~is regarding his leaving the ~ob to go to lunch and about what happened to cause him not to return to work that afternoon. He admitted that he was not in 3ai1 overnight even though he had told Mr. Britton that he _ was detained in ~ail until the next morning. (The hearing was closed for deliberations.) CS-77-4 ' Page 2 (Hearing was reconvened for announcing the results of deliberations.) Motion was made by Mr, Moore as follows: "In view of the grievance form which you filled out asking for back pay, we have investigated and found there is no back pay outstanding, therefore, the action of the department head remains unchanged."
