Moore called the special meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in Room 113, Municipal Complex located at 7301 N.E. Loop 820. ROLL CALL: COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT W. C. Moore, Vice Chairman D. M. Carter OTHERS PRESENT Sgt. Bobby Becknal, Police Department Jack Giacomarro, Public Works Representative Helen Cline, Deputy Secretary APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mr. D. M. Carter made a motion for acceptance of the Minutes for the special meeting on June 29th. Mr. Moore seconded the motion, voting was 2- 0 for approval of the Minutes as typed. AGENDA Item l. Job Description 4~249, Utility Maintenance Worker III is not completed yet due to the ahsence of John Green. Mr. Moore recommended that this item be postponed and placed on the agenda for July 13th. AGENDA Item 2. Amendment entitled Tuition Reimbursement For Municipal Employees was handed to the Commission by Mr. 3im Cato at last week's meeting. After receiving a copy of this amendment to the Personnel Regulations which was effective August 28, 1967, the Commission agreed that O.R. No. IV-l, Sections 1- 6 should be incorporated into the new Rules now in the hands of the City Council. Mr. Carter made the mation, seconded by Mr. Moore, to accept the change in Rule 13.05 as follows - motion passed unanimously. The change is ma.de by deleting 3.6, Section 3 of the 1967 amendment, and then replacing it with the following lines from the Civil Service Rule 13.05: "The extent of tuition assistance shall be predicated upon the grades achieved by the students. No tuition assistance shall be provided when the student's grade point average is less than 2. One hundred (100%) percent assistance may be awarded for students maintaining a 3.5 or better, and 75% assistance may be awarded for 3 through 3.4 grade point average and 50% for a 2.5 through 2.9 average. The above figures are based on a possible 4-point grade system. ~ Minutes July 6, 1976 Page 2 The secretary was instructed to type this as the new Rule 13.05 of the Civi1 Service Rules and make it available to the City Council for their next meeting.
