Loop 820. ROLL CALL: COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT John Green, Chairman W. C. Moore, Vice Chairman OTHERS PRESENT George Conant, City Council Randy Ingram, Fire Department Rep. Helen Cline, Deputy Secretary APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion was made by Mr. Moore, seconded by Mr. Green to approve the Minutes of April 13th, as written. Vote was unanimous. Minutes for April 27th were approved as corrected. The correction being the deletion of the last sentence under Agenda Item 2. Mr. Moore moved that the Minutes be approved as corrected, in the absence of Denver Mills. Mr. Green seconded the motion; voting was 2- 0. AGENDA Item 1. Membership in International Personnel Management Association was considered from the list of several benefits which the organization offers. It's objectives and purposes toward education and development of interest in sound personnel administration in the public service and the provision of a medium for international exchange of information regarding the administration of personnel programs in government were deemed worthwhile for the cost of $170 membership fee for an agency. Mr. Moore moved that we ~oin IPMA as an agency member. Mr. Green seconded the motion; voting was 2- 0. The Commission also recommends that we use state testing for police officers entrance examinations whenever they become available. AGENDA Item 2. It was generally agreed to budget $1,000. for pre-employment physicals. No entrance tests are budgeted. Mr. Green made the motion to adopt the budget as official for this panel. Mr. Moore seconded the motion. Voting was 2- 0. Minutes ~ May 11, 1976 Page 2 AGENDA Item 3. Postponed indefinitely. AGENDA Item 4. Letter to the City Council regarding hospital benefits was not ready, so this item will again be placed on the next agenda. A letter of resignation from Denver Mills was received. The remaining members of the Civil Service Commission accept his resignation from the Board with much appreciation for his service. They express a welcome, if ever the opportunity should arise, to work again with Mr. Mills. AGENDA Item 5. The sample of personnel forms which were requested from the Council of Governments office have not been received, therefore, no discussion was possible. AGENDA Item 6. The Commission agrees to arrange routine physicals for all new employees and only extend that to back examinations whenever an applicant has a history of back problems. The cost per person for the City will be $15 for the routine physical and when necessary for a back examination, the additional cost of $30. ~ Entered as an emergency item on the agenda -~ob descriptions- (refer to Minutes of April 27, Agenda Item 5) The job descriptions as established by PAS and modified in the Minutes are hereby adopted as the official 3ob descriptions for the City. AD30URNMENT: Mr. Moore made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 p.m. Mr. Green seconded the motion.
