HomeMy WebLinkAboutCIV 1976-04-27 Minutes ~ CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS April 27, 1976 M I N U T E S CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission came to order at approximately 7:30 p.m. in Room 113, City Hall, 7301 N.E. Loop 820. ROLL CALL: COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT John Green, Chairman Denver Mills OTHERS PRESENT Jim Cato, City Council Pete Pistole, Public Works Jack Giacomarro, Parks and Recreation Helen Cline, Deputy Secretary APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Since Mr. Moore was unable to attend the meeting, the Minutes of the previous meeting were not approved or disapproved. AGENDA Item 1. Membership in Testing Service was deferred until further study could be made of the catalogue. AGENDA Item 2. No motions were made and only general discussion was held pertaining to the budget. The Civil Service budget will be finalized at the first regularly scheduled ~ meeting in May. The importance of inter-departmental communications is recognized and it seems necessary to have some type of newsletter for all employees. Again, there was no motion made. Further consideration of a newsletter will be made. AGENDA Item 4. It is reported to the Commission that several employees have dropped their dependant coverage for outside coverage. Also, that some especially desire to have maternity coverage as a part of our group plan. It would be necessary to renegotiate with Blue Cross-Blue Shield prior to our renewal date of July 1 or open for bids from other companies. ~ Jim Cato recommended that we write a letter to the City Council regarding the need. Denver Mills will write the letter and present it at the next Commission meeting. Minutes April 27, 1976 Page 2 AGENDA Item 5. Due to Mr. Moore's absence, this item on 3ob descriptions was deferred to the next meeting. AGENDA Item 6. The original list of cities have returned our survey figures on salaries and fringe benefits. It was concluded, however, that the survey would be more complete with figures from more of the smaller surrounding cities. These will be requested immediately. The secretary was instructed to summarize these results, lining the cities in order by population in relation to North Richland Hills. Copies will be forwarded to the City Council.
