CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

OCTOBER 28, 1975
CALL TO ORDER: The regular meefiing of the Civil Service Coamiission
was called to order at approxima.tely 7:30 p.m.,
by Mr. John Green, Chairman.

APPROVAL OF MINt3TES: The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and
approved by a motion by Mr. Moore, seconded by
Mr. Green. The vote of approval was 2- 0.
AGENDA Items 1,
2& 3: These three items have been rescheduled for the
next meeting on November 11, 1975.
AGENDA Item 4. Personnel Forms
The Civil Service Co~nission has asked that we take
a look at the currently used application for employnaent
form, getting feedback from those who use the form,
and revise it accordingly.
AGENDA Item 5. Rules & Regulations, Chapter 7, Section 19, Tuition
Assistance
Motion was made by Mr. Green, seconded by Mr. Moore,
that the following rule be added as an amendment to
the Rules & Regulations:
13.05 Tuition Assistance for Employees
The City may provide tuition assistance to individuals
in support of job related education or training in
recognized colleges or universities, sub~ect to
availability of funds set aside for this purpose. The
extent of tuition assistance shall be predicated upon
the grades achieved by the students. No tuition
assistance shall be provided when the student's grade
point average is less than 2. One hundred (100%)
percent assistance may be awarded for students main-
taining a 3.5 or better, and 757' assistance may be
awarded for 3 through 3.4 grade point average and 50%
for a 2.5 through 2.9 average.

Tuition assistance may be graated only if the course
or program of instruction is approved in advance by
cognizant department head and City Manager. Reimburse-
ment shall be made upon presentation of evidence of
completion in accordance with criteria above.
Reimbursement may be made quarterly or per semester
for continuing program of education.
The motion carried by a vote of 2- 0.

at approximately 8:40 p.m. Mr. Green seconded the
motion, voting was 2- 0.
