HomeMy WebLinkAboutCIV 1975-09-23 Minutes MINUTES CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS SEPTEMBER 23, 1975 CALL TO ORDER: The Civil Service Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas, was cal.led to order by the Chairman, Mr. John Green,at 7:30 p.m., September 23, 1975. ROLL CALL: COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. John Green, Chairman Mr. Paul Churchman, Vice Chairman Mr. W. C. Moore OTHERS PRESENT: Tommy Sears, Empl.oyee Representative Helen Cline, Deputy Secretary APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion was made by Mr. Green to amend the Minutes of 16 September 1975. The change was made in the instruc- tions to the secretary; the word "copy" should read notice. Mr. Moore seconded the motion. The Minutes were approved as amended, by a vote of 3-0. AGENDA Item 1. (canceled) AGENDA Item 2. The Commission feels that all city employees should be classified according to the approved rules and that each employee should be notified officially of his/her correct class and code number. The Commission asks that the City Manager furnish the Civil Service Commission with up-to-date organizationall position charts (similar to the ones in PAS, Part I, pages 4 and 291. AGENDA Item 3. After reviewing the results of the Fire Department entrance examination which was given on the 19th of September, motion was made by Mr. Green as follows: The passing score should be reset to 50% or 35 points. The two people who failed to pass are to be notified that they will not be added to the register. Their notice of failure will advise them, however, that their application and examination results will be retained and that they are eligible to retake the examination whenever a date is set. A register will be made by arranging the names of all who passed, from the highest point to the lowest point t value, considering veteran preference; thereby establish- ing a fire entrance register. Mr. Moore seconded the motion which carried by a vote of 3-0. Minutes September 23, 1975 Page 2 INSTRUCTIONS; A capy of these Minutes will be attached to a memo addressed to Fire Chief Gertz. The secretary is instructed that applications of all persons who did not show up for the Fire Department entrance examinations are to be filed in a dead file. Those three (3) persons whose notices were returned by the Post Office will be kept in file awaiting notice of the next examination to be given. AGENDA: 1. Classification ~~122 2. Citizens Presentation ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Moore made the motion, seconded by Mr. Churchman, that next Tuesday's meeting be canceled for the hearing which is scheduled on Wednesday, October lst.
