- Youth Advisory Committee
June 10, 1999
• The meeting was called to order at 7:01
• Incoming members introduced: Kira Christopher, Bethany Dobson, Christie
Lambert, Kerry McGraw, Aaron Nordell, Ed Santiago
•.Notice that future meetings will be recorded on audio tape
• Officers elected:
Chairperson: Tony Ortega
Vice-chairperson: Megan Fisher
Secretary: Vanessa Trevino
Treasurer: Billy Stowolski
Social chair: Ashley Wood
• Meeting protocol reviewed including: order of ineetings, making motions,
voting, officer responsibilities
• Minutes ftom April 22"~ approved.
. Vanessa Trevino reported on presentation of annual report to City Council
and approval by Council to amend by-laws to accommodate new high school.
• Discussion of goals. Tony Ortega suggested that any community service be
within our own community and for teens. Suggestion was made to hold a
back to school event, possibly an outdoor concert. Bethany Dobson made
motion and Megan Fisher seconded to organize a sub-committee to explore
holding an outdoor concert to be held in August. Sub-committee to include:
Co-chairs Vanessa Trevino and Billy Stowolski, Ed Santiago, Kerry McGraw.
. Plan to discuss annual goals in more depth at next meeting.
. Motion: To change regular meeting date for committee to the first Thursday
of each month instead of second in order to secure use of the Pre-Council
chamber room. Vanessa Trevino made motion and Kerry McGraw seconded.
Unanimously approved.
• Recommendation was made that Ashley Wood, Social Chair organize an "ice-
breaker" event for the new committee.
• Tina Harvey thanked the committee and especially Vanessa Trevino for the
assistance in gathering the Parks and Recreation Department surveys from
, high school students.
• Adjourned. 8:22pm
