Meeting Minutes
1. Call to order
Chairperson Kathy Luppy called to order the meeting of the Keep NRH Beautiful
Commission at 6:45 p.m. on August 12, 2008 in the Neighborhood Services Office.

2. Approval of minutes from last meeting
Kathy Luppy moved to approve the minutes of the July 15, 2008 meeting: Holly
Bullington motioned,to approve the minutes. Jay Garner seconded the motion and
the minutes were accepted as written.
3. School Recvclina Contest
Commission members reviewed the handout on the School Recycling Contest,
looking at each item. Final decisions were made on the program, including the
dollar amounts to be awarded to teachers. Attached is a copy of the updated
program handouts containing the changes. Debbie York will work on the instructions
and rules so the Commission can review them at the September 16, 2008 meeting.
Kathy Luppy will set up a meeting with Dr. Waddell on 9/25/08. A cover letter is
needed, which will be discussed at the September meeting.

4. Staff Report
Final Yard of the Month award will be given at Council meeting on August 26, 2008.
Diana Madar will do the presentation. Debbie York suggested that Keep NRH
Beautiful partner with local charities and BISD to promote acoat/blanket drive in
celebration of Texas Recycles Day 2008. Commission members discussed ways of
involving the schools in the drive. Debbie York will contact the BISD Clothes
Connection to see if they will accept the coats. Another charity will need to be
identified to benefit from the blankets.
Debbie York also proposed doing a proclamation at the September 22, 2008 City
Council meeting declaring October as LitterNot month. The Adopt-A-Spot
volunteers will also be recognized and presented with a restaurant gift card as a
token of appreciation. The October 4~' Trash Bash Event will also be promoted at
the same time.
Kathy Luppy adjourned the eeting at 7:45 .m.
