Mr. Oswald presented information on how the establishIœnt, funding and collection of this system would work. Cathy Robinson, Chairman of the Beautification Cc:mni ttee, pre~ented three proposals of the' Rufe Snow/Glenview Drive median landscaping plans to the Ccmnittee. Mrs. Robinson stated that Proposal #3 would only cost $5,000 compared to $20,000 for Proposal #1, and $10,000 for Proposal #2. Proposal #3 shows all laror and ~iµnent being supplied by City forces and the total cost of materials being $5,000. The CIP Cœmi ttee reccmnended funding the entire amount of $5,000 for Proposal #3 fran the Beautification Carrnittee' s matching fund account. Greg Dickens stated that the City of Hurst is currently overlaying Bedford-Euless Road from Blackfoot Street east to Precinct Line Road. Greg Dickens stated that the City of Hurst had awarded the contract to Austin Paving Canpany and that the City of North Richland Hills' fair share of participation would be approximately $19,560. The ClP Camri. ttee recarrrended cost participation in the City of Hurst's asphalt overlay of Bedford-Euless Road be presented for approval at the next Council meeting. ASSIGNMENT Greg - Pursue CDM meeting with Steering Cornni ttee Greg/Jim Sul:mit plans with canplete cost estimate at next Council meeting. Greg lTE11 -.::- GABION PR<Y.I'ECTION FOR BIG FOSSIL CREEK CONCRETE CHANNEL LINER SIGNALIZATION OF WATAUGA ROAD AT SMITHFIElD ROAD INI'ERSECTION SIGNALIZATION OF HOLIDAY LANE AT NOREAST DRIVE DISCUSSION ASSIGNMENT Greg Dickens stated that he had net with Greg Craig Olden, a gabion contractor, in regards to the erosion problems on the canpleted "Big Fossil Creek Erosion Control Project" canpleted in 1988. Greg Dickens stated that it appeared that approximately 300 cubic yards of gabions would be required to control the erosion problem at, the upstream slope, downstream slope and downstream toe. Greg stated that the construction cost is estimated to be $44,000 and engineering for this project would be handled in-house at no additional cost to the project. The CIP Camlittee reccmnended staff request authorization for the project's budget fran Council at their next meeting. Greg Dickens stated that the Public Works Greg Department has warranted this signal by conducting traffic counts at this inter- section. Al though only one out of twelve warrants is currently exceeded, when the full width of Watauga Road is opened it is expected to exceed several rrore of the warrants. The estimated cost of this project is $75,00 which includes engineering and construction. The CIP Comni ttee recarmended to go to Council for authorization of this project. Greg Dickens stated that this intersection Greg does warrant signalization at this ti1œ. Greg Dickens stated that staff recarrrends the signals be installed with wood poles and cable since this is a temporary location for these signals due to the propo~ed future realignment of Lewis/Noreast Drive to the north adjacent to the TU Electric right-of-way. The estimated cost of this project is $35,000 which includes engineering and construction. The CIP Carrni ttee reccmnended to go before City Council for authorization of this project.
