DISCUSSION
ASSIGNMENT
The CIP Committee and staff again discussed
the nine (9) known flood prone areas and the
estimated cost of proposed drainage
improvements. Several citizens fran these
areas who flooded or were concerned about
potential flooding were present again at
this meeting. The CIP Conmi ttee recœmended
a transfer of funds in the amount of $500,000
fran the savings due to receipt of low bids
on Callaway Branch, Phase I & IIa Drainage
Irnproverænt projects to the Unspecified Drainage
CIP Fund to be approved at the next Council rneeting.
Due to this increase in Unspecified Drainage
FuIlds available, the CIP Corrmi ttee recarmended
the first 5 projects: (1) Shauna Drive to
Riviera Drive, (2) Deaver Drive, (3) Boca Raton
Drive, (4) willowcrest Court South, (5)
Willowcrest-Wendell-Tourist Project be grouped
as follows for bidding purposes; Projects 1 & 2;
Project 3; and, Project 4 & 5.
CIP Conmittee directed the City Manager and
Director of Public Works proceed with authorizing
the engineering for these projects as soon as
possible.

CIP Corrmittee also directed staff to send letters
asking haœowners to ItDve fences along drainage
channel behind their hares on Mackey Drive and
Redondo Drive from Riviera Drive to Victoria Drive.
The financial report was distributed at the
meeting.

DISCUSSION
The CIP Corrmittee asked the approximate
date of canpletion for Watuaga Road. The
Director of Public Works distributed a
work schedule fran the Contractor for
the remaining construction on this
project. The CIP Corrmittee requested staff
to schedule a rneeting with the contractor,
Austin Paving, to convey the Council's wishes
to open up Watauga Road as soon as
possible.
The CIP Corrmittee also requested staff
to have the landscaping for Watauga
Road ready to bid in October.
The CIP Conmi ttee asked for a report
on when the last crack sealing job
was done in the South part of
town, especially in Diamond lDch area.
The CIP Committee requested staff to
prepare a potential project of street
rehabilatation for the Tourist Drive
area to be funded fran the Unspecified
Street account ($300,000).
