City Hanager Director of Finance Senior Accountant Asst. Director of Public Works City Engineer DISCUSSION ASSIGNMENT The Committee discussed this project as a change order to the Watauga Road contract. There was some concern as to the nature and quantity of change orders in general. It was explained that although some change orders are due to design errors, most all change orders are the result of an addition of a project to the original contract in an effort to save time and/or money by utilizing already negotiated prices. The CIP Committee recommended this project be submitted to the Council for consideration as a change order to Watauga Road Paving and Drainage Project. Greg Dickens The Committee discussed this project as a change order to the Watauga Road Project. There was some concern as to the validity of arbitrarily selecting to negotiate unit prices as a change order rather than a public bid. After some discussion, CIP recommended staff negotiate change order prices as applicable and submit the best price to Council for further consideration. Greg Dickens The Committee was presented with the current financial report and after a brief discussion it was pointed out that the 1988-89 proposed bond sales has slipped to 1989-90. N/A The Committee was presented with the revised time schedule for the original CIP projects. A brief report was given at this time which indicated several projects are near the bidding phase. After reviewing the schedule, the Committee requested the following items: Greg Dickens 1. Put the median landscaping plan for Watauga Road on the next agenda. 2. Proceed with Newman Drive engineering so that construction may start ahead of the current schedule. 3. Present the Amundson Elevated Storage Tank to City Council when the additional research is complete. 4. Provide a more detailed update on right-of-way acquisitions at the next meeting. ITEM DISCUSSION SCHEDULE OF FUTURE C IP MEETINGS The Committee discussed the necessity of monthly meetings and concluded that bimonthly may be satisfactory. It was resolved to meet on July 26th then skip August and reconsider this schedule at the next meeting. OTHER ITEMS No additional projects were discussed.
