INFORMAL REPORT TO MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL No.IR#2005-097 + Date: July 14, 2005 Subject: Joint Meeting - South Grapevine Corridor We felt the need to provide the City Council a bit of information about tonight's joint City Council meeting with the City of Richland Hills. The purpose of the meeting is for Jet Powered' Group to present both City Councils with their recommendations and the recommendations of the Joint Oversight Committee regarding plans for the South Grapevine Corridor. Staff is not seeking any adoption or final action on the part of the City Council. There is another scheduled joint meeting of both City Councils on August 16th. At this next meeting it may be more appropriate to take official action on some of the recommendations. The presentations tonight are going to focus on several issues. One is the recommendation for the naming of the corridor, or a theme. Another recommendation will be related to streetscapes, or a look at what the cities will try to achieve over time. Finally, a recommendation will be placed on the table for the renaming of South Grapevine Highway. This last issue has the potential to be the most difficult. As you will see, it will be for this reason that we recommend that no final action be taken at the meeting tonight. One thing the consultants need and are seeking at tonight's meeting is a general consensus to proceed because the next step in the process involves the preparation of very expensive drawings and presentation materials. Assuming the green light is given to proceed, these materials will be ready for presentation at the next joint meeting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Richland Hills City Hall. Food will be provided. Please feel free to call in advance of the meeting if you have any questions or concerns. Respectfully Submitted, L~n~am City Manager ISSUED BY THE CITY MANAGER NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS
