Meeting Minutes
1. Call to order
Chairman Kathy Luppy called to order the meeting of the Keep NRH Beautiful
Commission at 6:50 p.m. on August 18, 2009 in the Neighborhood Services Office.

2. Approval of minutes from last meeting
Kathy Luppy moved to approve the minutes of the August 18, 2009 meeting. Diane
Spradling motioned to approve the minutes. Doris Tipps seconded the motion and
the minutes were accepted as written.
3. Evaluate existing programs and events
Commission members reviewed the following programs: Adopt-A-Spot/LitterNot,
Business Landscape of the Month, Christmas Lighting Contest, Environmental
Education School Grants, Great American Cleanup (March 1 -May 31), Green
Campus, Project Warmth, Recycle More School Art Contest, Trash Bash and Yard
of the Month. The Commission members agreed that all of these programs/projects
remain highly effective in encouraging citizens to take responsibility for their
community environment. It was also decided not to produce any beautification
related seminars due to the lack of interest in those done in the past.
4. Discuss aarticiaation in the Southside Neis~hborhood Revitalization Pros~ram
Debbie York gave a brief overview of the intentions to provide incentives to
qualifying homeowners in older neighborhoods south of Loop 820. After discussion
of ways of helping needy residents improve the exterior of their properties, a motion
was made by Doris Tipps to donate $2,500. to the program. Diane Spradling
seconded the motion. Motion passed.
5. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned by Kathy Luppy at 7:22 pm.
