'1. Call do order
Chairman Kathy Luppy called to order the meeting of the Keep NRH Beautiful
Commission at 5:45 p.m. on October 20, 2009 in the Neighbofiood Servk~s Office.

2. Ao~rovai of minutes from last mAetlng
Kathy Luppy moved to approve the minutes of the September 8.2009 mewing. Holly
Bullington motioned to approve the minutes. Dianne Spradling seconded the motion
and the minutes were accepted as written.
3. Discuss Keen America Beautlful CertlAcation Process
This item was tabled for discussion at the Novwmber 17.2009 mewing.
4. Discuss Partlcipation to Holidav Events
Debbie York advised that the Night of Holiday Magic is scheduled for 12/5/09 from 4-
8 pm. Commission deeded they would again work the trains. The schedule is as
follows:
4:00 - 5:00 pm Dianne Spradling & Doris Tipps
5:00 - 6:00 pm Kathy Luppy ~ Holly Buliington
6:00 - 7:00 pm Donah Tyner 8 Jay Gamer
7:00 - 8:00 pm Justin Welbom ~ Darla Batchler
Debbie York will also be there the entire time to help as needed.
Judging for the Holiday Lighting Contest will be on Sunday, 12/6/09, beginning at
5:30pm. The Commission with have light meal before beginning the drive. The
assigned areas for pr+e-judging are as folkyws:

The awanis will be presented at the Coundl Meeting on 12/6/09.
8. Review Emrironmenta~ Education ~3rant Flnal Reports
Holly Bullington reported that the project at Green Valley Elementary had not yet
been completed. As it is a perennial ganien, it is being planted in the fall. They ran
into a few other issues, also. It was suggested that the instructions for the
applications in the future stress that the project be approved by the schooUschool
district prior to submission. Kathy Luppy will submit her report for her T-shirt project
and Debbie York will send out copies of the report from Smithfield Elementary
project. Still awaiting final report from Smithfield Middle School.
6. Staff Reports
Debbie York reported that it is almost time for the Green Campus Applications to be
sent out. An addition will be made to indude participation in the Recycle More
Contest and Project Warmth for 10 points each. There will also be a list of possible
Adopt-a-Spot locations inducted with the applications.
Franklin Park wants to adopt the spot right in front of their property. Debbie York
advised that any spot eligible in that area has already been adopted. She will
explain to them that it needs to be an area that needs deaning up and is not already
adopted nor leaned by private agendas.
Debbie York advised that the Parks Dept reports that, after numerous delays, they
believe they are ready to move forward and that TXDOT has finally approved the
construction documents that were submitted for the GCAA project on Davis near
Emerald Hills.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. It was briefly discussed
that this is the week before Thanksgiving, but everyone indicated they coukd attend
except Justin Welborn.
