APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes of the March 17, 2011 meeting were approved as written.
LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Circulation growth over the past three years is continuing to level off. Circulation
numbers were down 2.77% in March compared to the same time period last year. Total
circulation is projected to be over 800,000 by the end of the year.
There were 703 new library registrations during the month of March.
The number of items withdrawn in March was about the same number of items added to
the collection. Staff is working to stabilize the collection by weeding out and replacing
outdated materials with newer, in- demand materials.
REVIEW LIBRARY BUDGET SUBMISSION
Steve Brown updated the Board on the FY 2011 -2012 budget submission. The current
year's budget is 1,922,842, and the target number for the upcoming year is 1,895,749.
This budget decrease of $27,093, coupled with higher costs associated with salaries
and benefits, computer allocations, and other services, raised the target number to
about $56,000. The books, electronic materials and databases accounts were reduced
by $43,000 and other accounts by $13,000 to help close the gap. Donation funds will
help offset the cuts made to library materials accounts.
PREVIEW SUMMER READING PROGRAM PLANS
Information on the 2011 Summer Reading Club was posted on the Library's webpage
today. There are several special programs lined up for this summer including Magician

Welch.
CHANGES TO CAFE SERVICE

considered.
