Meeting Minutes
1. Call to order
Chairperson Kathy Luppy called to order the meeting of the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission
at 6:00 p.m. on August 16, 2011 in the Neighborhood Services Office.

2. Approval of minutes from last meetina
Kathy Luppy moved to approve the minutes of the May 17, 2011 meeting. Minutes
approved as written.
3. Discuss Proiects /Proarams for Remainder of Year
Recycle More School Art Contest: Contest entries in January are due Mar. & April
The Great American Cleanup: - March 1 — May 31
1 Dig My Garden Photo Contest April 1 — July 31
Green Campus: Annually (application in September)
Beautification related seminars — Funding for seminars at the Common Ground Community Garden
School Clothes Swap Meet — August, 2012
Trash Bash —September 24, 2011
Keep America Beautiful Certification - October
Environmental Education Grants: Applications September, awarded in October
Community Cleanup — April and October
Project Warmth: (coat & blanket drive): November collection
Night of Holiday Magic: First Saturday in December
Holiday Lighting Contest: Judging December, present awards January
Adopt -A -Spot - On going
City -wide Beautification programs — Community Garden
Projects in partnership with Northeast Environmental Team, Inc.: Enviro Fair, Enviro Camp, Custodian of
the Year, N.E. Recycles Day Flea Market, Birdville Environmental Study Center Development and
Maintenance.
4. Judge "I Dia My Garden" Photo Entries
"I Dig My Garden" Photo Contest
Over seventy (70) excellent photos were received for the first annual "I Dig My Garden" Photo
Contest. Judging was very difficult, but the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission selected the following
winners:
Beautiful Backyard
Handsome Hardscar)e
Outstanding Ornamental
Visible View
David & Virginia Smith
Marsha Pend
Glenn & Kathv Nerwin
Johnny Gilliland
Each winner will receive a $25.00 gift card from a local nursery. The winners will also be recognized
at a City Council meeting in September.
