CITIZEN COMMENTS None 3-a. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 1, 2011 MEETING APPROVED MR. CRANE MOVED TO APPROVE THE AMENDED MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 1, 2011 PARK AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING. MR. NELSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION TO APPROVE CARRIED 6-0. Page 1 of 3 4-a. NRH2O FOOD SERVICE BUILDING DESIGN Mr. Joe Pack, Senior Park Planner updated the Park and Recreation Board on the design of the new Food Service Building at NRH2O. The new Food Service Building, and outdoor grill, will replace the Hopper near Beachside Bay. 4 -b. TRAIL SIGNAGE AND IDENTIFICATION Mr. Joe Pack, Senior Park Planner, updated the Park and Recreation Board on the installation of trail identification signage and % mile trail markers on the City's Hike and Bike Trails. 4-c. COTTON BELT TRAIL DAMAGE AND MITIGATION Mr. Bill Thornton, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, updated the Park and Recreation Board on the damage that the Cotton Belt Trail received from heavy tree trimming equipment which was not authorized by the City to be on the trail. The City has been working with the contractor responsible for the tree trimming operations, and their insurance provider, to cover costs related to the repair of the trail. A resolution is expected in the near future. 4-d. NRH CENTRE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Mr. Bill Thornton provided an update on the construction of the NRH Centre which is progressing on schedule for an April 2012 completion. Mr. Thornton also provided current construction photos. A tour of the new center will be scheduled for the Park and Recreation Board. 4 -e. NRH CENTRE MEMBERSHIP PROMOTION Ms. Adrien Pekurney, Recreation Center Manager, provided information on the Advance Membership Promotion for the new NRH Centre. The advance membership promotion began on September 1, 2011 and will conclude on November 30, 2011. NRH Centre memberships will begin in April 2012, on the official opening date. 5-a. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT ON CURRENT PROGRAMS AND SERVICES Ms. Sharon Davis, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, presented an update on activities and events offered through the Recreation Center, Tennis Center, Senior Centers and Cultural Arts. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT ON PARKS CAPITAL PROJECTS Mr. Bill Thornton, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, presented updates on the following capital improvement projects: • Calloway Branch Trail / Little Bear Creek Trail • Fossil Creek Area Revitalization • Solar Power Conversion for City Entryway Signs • Food Service Building at NRH2O 5-C. AQUATIC PARK MANAGER'S REPORT Ms. Vickie Loftice presented an update on the following items for NRH2O: • Summary of the 2011 Season 6. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS There were no other items for discussion. 7.
