Debbie advised there will be a training webinar on 1/23/12 on the certification process. Members are
welcome to either join Debbie in her office for the training or set it up to view it on their own computers.
There is a $500 application fee for the certification training to become a Keep American Beautiful

program. However, this will be partially offset by not having to pay dues for the first year, which are
normally $250. The certification process typically takes 4 -6 months.

There was only one application received for the grants. That was from Snow Heights Elementary. The
project was discussed and approved for $400. The Commission also reviewed the reports from 3
schools that received funding last year; Holiday Heights, Academy at Carrie F. Thomas and Richland
High School (baseball). All of the reports reflected completion of projects that provided beautification
and /or environmental education which is the purpose of the grant funding.
5. Discuss School Recycled Art Contest
Commission agreed to again hold the contest this year with applications going out in February. No
changes to the rules.
