Call to order Chairperson Kathy Luppy called to order the meeting of the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission at 6:00 p.m. on February 21, 2012 in the Neighborhood Services Office. Roll Call The following persons were present: Commission Members: Kathy Luppy Chairperson Doris Tipps Commission Member Holly Bullington Commission Member Donah Tyner Commission Member Dianne Spradling Commission Member Justin Welborn Commission Member Staff Members: Debbie York Neighborhood Services Mgr. Joyce Fister Admin Secretary The following persons were absent: Perry Christianson Commission Member Latoyia Dennis Commission Member 2. Approval of minutes from last meetinq Kathy Luppy moved to approve the minutes of the January 17, 2012 meeting. Minutes approved as written. 3. Discuss Keep America Beautiful Certification Debbie reviewed the steps outlined for the Certification, per the webinar. The next thing to do is the Litter Index, which was scheduled for Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 3:00 pm. The members will meet here to drive around the City looking for problem areas, using the Yard of the Month map. Results will be discussed at the next meeting to be held on May 15, 2012. 4. Discuss Adopt -A- Highway Event This event is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Volunteers will meet at Gateway Church on Davis. The area adopted by the Commission is from Starnes to Precinct Line, both sides of the road. Debbie has contacted the Teen Court Coordinator to see about getting some community service workers to help. 5. Discuss Tree Give Away Debbie advised that the Parks Dept. will be holding a "Spring in the Garden" seminar on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Library from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Commission has volunteered to provide and hand out trees following the seminar to attendees. A motion was made to authorize the purchase of 50 — 5 gal Oak trees from Home Depot at a cost of $6 each. The motion was approved. 6. Staff Report: discuss items for March meeting Debbie advised the original due date for the Recycled Art Contest was March 16 2012 but because the school district is still on spring break, she had sent out information extending the due date to the 19 Members volunteered to go to elementary schools to pick up the entries. High School and Middle School projects will need to be delivered to the Neighborhood Services building by March 19, 2012. Judging will be done during the March 20, 2012 meeting. Debbie also advised that Joe Pack will be attending that meeting to give an update on the Governor's Achievement Award project. Because of the amount of items to be judged, the Commission decided to start the March meeting at 5:00 pm. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned by Kathy Luppy at 6:30 pm.
