CITIZEN COMMENTS There are no citizen comments. 3-a. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 6, 2012 MEETING APPROVED MR. CRANE MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 6, 2012 PARK AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING. MR. PENA SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION TO APPROVE CARRIED 7 -0. Page 1 of 3 4-a. BOND ELECTION OVERVIEW Mr. Mark Hindman, City Manager, presented an overview of the Bond Election which will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012. 4 -b. YOUTH SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS ANNUAL REPORTS Darren West with the Birdville Area Youth Futbol Alliance presented their annual report to the Park and Recreation Board. 4-c. NRH CENTRE UPDATE Ms. Vickie Loftice, Managing Director, provided an update on construction activities for the NRH Centre. Construction is progressing on schedule for the April 14, 2012 grand opening. Ms. Sharon Davis, Assistant Director, presented an update on the operation of the NRH Centre. The aquatic staff will begin lifeguard training the week of March 19 and continue through April 6. Guest Service team members began training the week of March 26 and will continue through April 13. The majority of all part-time and full -time positions have been filled; a team member orientation will be held on Friday, April 6. Sneak Peek access for members who purchased an annual pass during the early promotion period through February 29 will take place on April 12 & 13. There have been 1,205 memberships purchased to date. Mr. Paul Pena left the meeting at 7:00 p.m. 5-a. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT ON CURRENT PROGRAMS AND SERVICES Ms. Sharon Davis, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, presented an update on activities and events offered through the Recreation Center, Tennis Center, Senior Centers and Cultural Arts. Highlights included: • NRH Centre Grand Opening • Easter In The Park • 2012 Sounds of Spring Concerts • 2012 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon Park and Recreation Board Minutes April 2, 2012 Page 2 of 3 5 -b. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT ON PARKS CAPITAL PROJECTS Mr. Joe Pack, Senior Park Planner, presented updates on the following capital improvement projects: • Calloway Branch Trail & Little Bear Creek Trail • Adventure World Playground Renovation • Davis Boulevard Streetscape • NRH2O Food Service Building Ms. Tracye Tipps left the meeting at 7:20 p.m. 5-c. AQUATIC PARK MANAGER'S REPORT Mr. Chris Swartz, Aquatic Park Manager, presented an update on preparations for the 2012 operating season at NRH2O. He highlighted the hiring process and rehabilitation of some of the slides. 6. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS Ms. Loftice announced that Sarah Green has been hired as the Cultural Arts Coordinator. 7.
