STAFF PRESENT: Steve Brown, Library Director CALLED TO ORDER: 7 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes recorded April 21, 2005 and transcribed January 26, 2007. There was no recording Secretary during the meeting. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT — Steve Brown The number of visits to the library website is up this month. Todd Humble, Technical Services Supervisor, upgraded the library's computer software Tuesday morning. The new software is working fine. Staff computers inside the library are much slower than home computers due to the firewall and internet filtering software installed recently. Mr. Brown will meet with the I.S. Department to discuss the problem so that operations run more efficiently. Bedford Library has reopened and is issuing cards again. Planning continues "One Book, One Community" program. The target date for the program is early spring. Many Northeast Tarrant county libraries are participating in the program. The state library funding has been restored after the 5% cut across the board. Additionally, at least 1.25 million dollars will be added to the TexShare database each year. Mr. Brown was reelected to a second three -year term on the Amigos Library Services Board of Trustees. Charlotte Hughes is a new volunteer who will be working in the Library. UPDATE ON ARCHITECT SELECTION — Steve Brown Four architect firms interviewed on April 22 for the job of designing our new library. Each firm prepared a site plan, a schematic floor plan, and an elevation drawing for the interview session. Mr. Brown presented the Board with the plans. The Board discussed the closing of the current library once the new library is opened. CONSIDER APPROVING CHANGES TO ILL POLICY COVERING LENDING BY NRH LIBRARY The Board discussed the revisions to the Interlibrary Lending Policy. The decision to loan materials to another library is at the discretion of the library director or the director's designee. In general, the NRH Library does not lend reference books, local history materials, books published within the last twelve months, audiovisual materials, recorded books, newspapers or periodicals.
