HomeMy WebLinkAboutLIB 2005-09-15 Minutes CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES September 15, 2005 BOARD PRESENT: Polly Brinkley, Norma Lewis, Kay Schmidt, Avis Crisp, Janet Ball, Jane Birkes, Kathy Antropik Absent: Mary Shilcutt STAFF PRESENT: Steve Brown, Library Director CALLED TO ORDER: 7 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes recorded May 19, 2005 and transcribed January 26, 2007. There was no recording Secretary during the meeting. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT — Steve Brown Mr. Brown updated the Board on the upward trend of the circulation statistics over the past few months, especially in July. After Hurricane Katrina, the North Richland Hills Library issued library cards to residents outside the state of Texas to assist Evacuees with their library needs. Mr. Brown informed the Board he will be filling the Administrative Secretary position in the spring. Staff continues planning the Book Work Program. There are a number of changes to the online partnership with the Answer Zone partnership. Several of the original partners including Irving have dropped out of the partnership. Mr. Brown visited Washington D.C. to try to develop a measurement for evaluations of Public Libraries. Mr. Brown was asked to run for president of Texas Library Association. The Books Sale will be held this weekend. The Library can check the value of the books online before they are sold. UPDATE ON DESIGN PHASE OF THE NEW LIBRARY — Steve Brown The address of the new Library is 9015 Grand Avenue. Cardinal Street will be realigned. A discussion was held about the location of the library and the property lines. Mr. Brown discussed the location of the shelves and the lighting. There will be more windows and natural lighting in the new library. Discussion followed. ADJOURNMENT The next meeting was scheduled for October 20, 2005.
