The Commission discussed ways to improve the application forms and the requirements. Ideas
mentioned were:
• Raising points required to win the award to encourage schools to continue to add to their
programs rather than just listing the same ones each year.
• Make it mandatory for each school to have an Adopt -A -Spot in good standing in order to
qualify.
• Award a large trophy to the school with the most points which will move from school to
school each year.
• Clarify that curriculum related education does not qualify.
• Points will no longer be awarded for collections other than those which recycle used
clothing. Toys for Tots, Bunny collections, etc. will no longer apply.
• Possible Bonus points for the Environmental Education Grants.
