The visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 5 from 4 — 7 p.m., burial will be in Omaha, Nebraska. 2. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizen comments. Page 1 of 3 3 -a. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 1, 2012 MEETING APPROVED MR. PENA MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 1, 2012 PARK AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING. MS. COMPTON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION TO APPROVE CARRIED 5 -0. 4 -a. REVIEW THE CONCEPTUAL PLAN FOR THE RENOVATION OF ADVENTURE WORLD PLAYGROUND Mr. Bill Thornton, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, presented two concept themes developed for the renovation of Adventure World Playground. Concept A: "Tree Adventure" Concept B: Wildlife & Me ". Tree house play structure Habitat Huts Wildlife themed play elements Swing area Animal babies — tot area Climbing Swing area Shade Creative Sounds Woodland excursion Retreat & sanctuary Interactive play area The Park and Recreation Board discussed the concepts and provided feedback to assist Dunaway Associates in refining and developing the conceptual plans. 5 -a. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT ON CURRENT PROGRAMS AND SERVICES Ms. Sharon Davis, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, presented an update on activities and events offered through the NRH Centre, Tennis Center, Senior Center and Cultural Arts. Highlights include: • NRH Centre Memberships October 1 thru November 10 — 426 memberships • Evaluation of a membership management and retention service • Aquatic programs to include swimming lessons, triathlon clinic and Family Fun Night • Birthday party rentals are averaging 5 per weekend for November • Run Run Rudolph Family Fun 5K Run & Walk • Jingle Bell Block Volleyball Tournament • Senior Center New Year's Dance, Monday, December 31 from 6 — 8 p.m. • Grand Hall Bookings • RTC Toys for Tennis Tournament • Night of Holiday Magic — Largest crowd ever, 230 volunteers from 24 different volunteer groups • Sounds of Spring Concert Series Park and Recreation Board Minutes December 1, 2012 Page 2 of 3 5 -b. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT ON PARKS CAPITAL PROJECTS Mr. Bill Thornton, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, presented updates on the following capital improvement projects: • Park Infrastructure Maintenance 2012 — Replacement of pond fountains at HomeTown Lakes, enlargement of dugouts at Richfield Park and re- tamping of light standards on selected athletic field. • Park Infrastructure Maintenance 2013 — Flatwork and sidewalk repair at various parks, re- tamping ball field lights and play structure repairs at various playgrounds. • Richland Tennis Center Infrastructure Maintenance 2012 — Improvements or repairs to the barrel roof over the main lobby. • Richland Tennis Center Infrastructure Maintenance 2013 — Will address updating all original plumbing fixtures in the facility. 5 -c. NRH2O FAMILY WATERPARK UPDATE Mr. Chris Swartz, Aquatic Park Manager, presented updates on the operations and maintenance of NRH2O Family Water Park. Highlights include: • Pricing adjustment for the 2013 season. • Long term development plan for the park. 6. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS None 7.
