01. Call Meeting to Order

Dr. Jed Ford motioned to approve the minutes from the last meeting from January 14,
2014 and Tito Rodriguez seconded the motion. There were no objections.
03. Shelter update
Jimmy Perdue provided the Board with an update on the shelter project:
• Construction is moving along on schedule.
• Plans are that the building will be ready by December.
• There were some cosmetic changes made here and there, but they were items that
would be not be noticed by the public.
• There are plans to purchase a new washing machine and dryer as opposed the
previously proposed use of older units from another department.
04. Fundraising Update
Chun Mezger provided the Board with an update on fundraising efforts:
• Staff have been to several tabling events to promote the fundraising for the new
shelter
• Information tables have been set up at the Library and the Rec Centre promoting
the pavers
• Information was available at the recent Parks and Recreation Sights and Sounds
events and that has brought in a few calls for support
• Staff is open to suggestions from the Board as to ideas on how to get information
out about the fundraising
Tito suggested setting up a table at a Chamber Luncheon.
Pam asked if we had the dollar amount raised so far—Chun responded that there was not
one to report for this meeting.
Jimmy informed the Board that he was reviewing the donation amounts set for some of
the areas of donation.
• Some areas were offered for too low of an amount and it was not clear as to the
duration of the naming rights.
• Pam said that she would research what the standard duration for name rights was
and would contact Jimmy.
05. Waterpark Event
Chun informed the Board that September 20, 2014 has been set for the Animal Adoption
& Rescue Center to host a waterpark event where pet owners can bring their dogs out
with them to enjoy a day at NRH2O.
• Pam Burney was excited to hear that staff was hosting this event and not another
group outside of the city.
• The event is still in the early planning stages and Chun will update the Board as
more information is available for this event.
06. Adjournment
No objections. Meeting adjourned at 02:10 pm.
