Call Meeting to Order Pam Burney called the meeting to order at 10:36 am 02. Approval of minutes of September 7,2010 meeting Dr. Jed Ford motioned to approve the minutes from the last meeting on September 7, 2010 and Tito Rodriguez seconded the motion. There were no objections. 03. Introduction of New Board Member—Councilman Tito Rodriguez JoAnn Stout introduced Councilman Tito Rodriguez to the board. Councilman Rodriguez takes the place vacated by former Councilman John H. Lewis. Councilman Rodriquez gave some background information on himself and his activities with the city. Chun Mezger introduced the councilman to everyone else that was at the meeting. 04. Animal Shelter Expansion Update Jimmy Perdue gave a brief timeline of the project to bring the board members up to current events with the shelter project. The project is currently $1.5 million short and there had been several delays that were unavoidable. Events such as the City of Watauga backing out of our joint expansion at the last minute to build their own facility and the City of Keller citizens voting not to enter into a project with us but to expand their existing facility. After that the City explored the idea of building our own facility but we need to find locations that either the city already owned or that could be purchased reasonably. Currently the City of North Richland Hills has been approached by the City of Hurst to go into a joint facility. Pam is concerned about the level of service that Hurst provides is not to the level that we currently provide our citizens. Jimmy agreed that there are differences in philosophies in the two cities. Jimmy discussed that plans right now are to use the existing building in Hurst and expand from there, but options are still being explored to see which would be more beneficial to the citizens of each city. Dr. Ford suggested we look at doing a regional facility and state to all the surrounding cities that this is what NRH is doing—are you in or out. JoAnn asked Pam her opinion on how the NRH citizens would react to the moving to Hurst option. Pam agreed that it would be a great question to ask—how would the citizens of NRH feel about having their shelter in the City of Hurst. Jimmy discussed the possible locations in Hurst and locations in NRH. Pam felt that the current Hurst complex is way too small to build any shelter adequate to house two cities. Pam also explained that the current Hurst shelter has had structural problems from day one. Jimmy closed discussions by saying that there is still a lot to be discussed and evaluated. 05. Adjournment Pam motioned to adjourn the meeting at 11:17 am. JoAnn seconded. No objections. ATTE T: A& Chun Mezger, Huma a5 ivision Supervisor
