HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2016-04-19 MinutesMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE APRIL 19, 2016 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met on the 19th day of April 2016 at 5:45 p.m. in the Neighborhood Services conference room. 1. CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 6:12 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Sandra Totty Amy Steele Justin Welborn Doris Tipps Donah Tyner Mi'Shon Landry Absent: Holly Bullington Chairperson, Place 6 Place 1 Place 2 Place 3 Place 4 Place 5 Alternate Place 7 Staff Members: Stefanie Martinez, Director of Neighborhood Services Debbie York, Asst. Director of Neighborhood Services 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 19, 2016 KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION MEETING. Amy Steele moved to approve the Minutes of the January 19, 2016 Keep North Richland Hills Commission Meeting. Justin Welborn seconded the motion. Motion to approve carried 7-0. 3. REPORT ON BISD SCHOOL RECYCLING PROGRAM William Shenko with Birdville Independent School District Building and Grounds Department made a presentation on a grant received to establish and promote district wide recycling. Debbie York assured Mr. Shenko that the Commission is willing to help promote recycling in all North Richland Hills schools. April 19, 2016 Page 1 of 2 4. GOVERNOR'S COMMUNITY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD RECOGNITION Debbie York outlined how the Governor's Community Achievement Awards will be presented at the Keep Texas Beautiful Conference in Sugarland in June, 2016. She also reported that direction will be given at the conference by Texas Department of Transportation for the project that will be funded by the $250,000 award. 5. KEEP TEXAS BEAUTIFUL CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE Kathy Luppy expressed an interest in attending the full Keep Texas Beautiful Conference. Several of the other members will check their calendars to see if they can attend the awards dinner and will let Debbie know before the early registration deadline of May 20. 6. STAFF REPORT Debbie York reported that the Manning family has volunteered for the Adopt A Spot program. They will be cleaning up Amundsen from Mid -Cities to Dick Faram Park. Debbie reminded the members of the City Hall board member tour and grand opening activities on May 10 and 13 respectively. Debbie also provided the members with information on the Residential Energy Efficiency Program, Home Improvement Rebate Program, and mosquito control. 7.
