ORDINANCE NO. 885
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE XXIII, ACCESSORY BUILDING REGULATIONS,
OF ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 179 AND ORDINANCE NO. 187 OF THE CITY
OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS. THIS ORDINANCE REGULATES THE
ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, ENLARGEMENT, ALTERATION, REPAIR, MOVING,
CONVERSION, OCCUPANCY, USE, HEIGHT, AREA AND MAINTENANCE OF
BUILDING OR STRUCTURES; PROVIDING A SAVING CLAUSE; AND
PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, BEING ORDINANCE
NO. 885 OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHL~~D HILLS, TEXAS.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS as follows:
SECTION 1. REQUIREMENTS FOR USE AND CONSTRUCTION OF SMALL ACCESSORY
BUILDINGS
Certain other detached accessory buildings shall be permitted within Resi-
dential and Multiple Family Districts provided they meet the requirements
of the Building Code and Article XXIII of Ordinance No. 179, the Zoning
Ordinance of North Richland Hills, Texas, except as provided herein; and
further provided they so not exceed a maximum of two hundred eighty-eight
(288) square feet of floor area. Use of ~hese buildings as a garage is
prohibited. Portable but not mobile structures are permitted provided
they are built of acceptable material so as not to detract from the
neighborhood as determined by the Building Inspector. These accessory
buildings may be constructed of finished wood, masonry, or metal. Used
material may be used upon approval of the Building Inspection Department
of the City of North Richland Hills. Floors must be constructed of
wood, concrete, or rust proof metal. These buildings must be placed or
constructed within the side building lines. Door openings shall not
exceed six feet clear opening.
SECTION 2. PENALTY.
Any person violating any of the prOV1Slons of this Chapter, shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any
sum not in excess of Two Hundred dollars ($200.00) and a separate offense
shall be deemed committed upon each day during or on which a violation
occurs or continues after notice from the Building Inspector to remove
or abate the same.
SECTION 3. SAVING CLAUSE
If any section, subsection, clause, sentence, phrase or word of this
Ordinance is for reason held void or unconstitutional by a court of

competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the validity
of the remaining portions of the ordinance.
SECTION 4. REPEALING CLAUSE
This Ordinance shall be cumulative of all other ordinances of the City of
North Richland Hills relating to the subject matter hereof except where
such ordinances or parts thereof are in conflict with the provisions of
this ordinance, in which event, such ordinance or parts of ordinance
so conflicting are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after the date of its passage and publication as provided by law.
