HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2018-01-16 Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS,TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE JANUARY 16, 2018 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met on the 16th day of January, 2018 at 5:45 p.m. in the Neighborhood Services conference room. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5:55 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chairperson, Place 6 Sandra Totty Place 1 Amy Steele Place 2 Susan Young Place 3 Mi'Shon Landry Place 4 Donah Tyner Place 5 Brandon Kelly Place 7 Absent: Kelvin Deupree Alternate Staff Members: Debbie York, Asst. Director of Neighborhood Services Joyce Fister, Administrative Secretary Neighborhood Services B. CITIZENS PRESENTATION - None C. ACTION ITEMS C.1 Approval of minutes of the October 17,2017 Keep NRH Beautiful Commission meeting. Motion to approve carried 7-0 as written. C.2 Green Campus applications: The Commission received 2 late Applications for the Green Campus Award. A motion was made to accept the applications from Snow Heights Elementary and Walker Creek Elementary, which were late due to unforeseen circumstances, and to approve payment of the $150.00 award to both. Motion was seconded and carried 7-0. City Staff will issue payments. D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS D.1 Discuss Governor's Community Achievement Award Application: Debbie York advised Commission that the application process had changed, with it now being done online. She distributed copies of the application draft that she had completed. The Commission reviewed each section and made suggestions on how to improve it. Debbie York will update it accordingly and submit. Page 1 of 2 D.2 Discuss Keep America Beautiful Certification/30th Anniversary recognition: Debbie York advised members that the Commission will become a member of Keep America Beautiful as soon as the training is completed on Jan. 27, 2018, along with the fact that this year is the 30th anniversary for the Keep NRH Beautiful Commission. When the KAP Certification is received, Debbie will add the presentation to the City Council on the Council Agenda. E. DEPARTMENT UPDATES&GENERAL INFORMATION E.1 Debbie York advised the Commission that work on the hardscape for the landscape project, from the 2015 GCAA Award will begin this summer and the plants will be added in the fall. E.2 Debbie York has also purchased small seed packets with the KNRHB Logo on them to hand out at events to promote the Commission. E.3 There is a Litter Clean-up event scheduled for February 3, 2018 and Debbie York has contacted various volunteer groups to assist. E.4 Debbie York told the Members that 6 out of the 9 winners for the Christmas Lighting Contest attended the City Council meeting to receive their awards. E.5 The Commission was reminded of the training session that is scheduled for January 27, 2018. G.
