APPOINTMENTS Mayor Brown reminded the Council of their JEANETTE
TO BOARDS & appointments to the Boards and Commissions. Please follow up.
COMMISSIONS Attorney for the City advised Council that
according to the Charter the Civil Service
Commission was appointed by the Mayor.
LAIDLAW RATE Representative for Laidlaw asked to make a
INCREASE presentation to the Council at a later date.
REQUEST Council had questions pertaining to the landfill
permit and cost information. Council was
advised an update would be given on the permit
as soon as possible. Presentation would be
made at the September 9th Council Meeting.
Mayor Pro Tern Sibbet was added as a member
of the Laidlaw Rate Increase Committee.

Council asked if all of the residents in the 6700 block of Fair Meadow Drive wanted the
no parking signs.
Mr. Tom Colgrove, 6701 Fair Meadow, advised that the neighbors had a meeting and
discussed the no parking zone.
After further consideration of the no parking signs, the residents of Fair Meadow felt it
should be looked into further.
After discussion by the Council, motion carried 7-0.

DENIED
Some Council members felt better guidelines were needed on setting inspection fees.
Councilman Wood moved, seconded by Councilwoman Spurlock, to deny Ordinance No.
1692.
Motion to deny failed 4-3; Councilwomen Spurlock and Johnson and Councilman Wood
voting for denial and Councilmen Welch, Scoma, and Garvin and Mayor Pro Tern Sibbet
voting against denial.

After further discussion, Mayor Pro Tern Sibbet moved, seconded by Councilman Scoma,
to approve charging a fee and funds to be placed into a fire inspection program.
Motion failed 4-3; Councilwomen Spurlock and Johnson, Councilmen Wood and Welch
voting against and Councilmen Garvin and Scoma and Mayor Pro Tern Sibbet voting for.
Fire Department will continue routine inspections.

CITIZENS PRESENTATIONS
RENEE LUDWIG
RE: FAIR MEADOW PROBLEMS
Ms. Renee Ludwig asked for an update pertaining to the code violations at 6700 Fair
Meadow.
Attorney for the City advised that the City was doing all in its power to eliminate the
violations.
Ms. Ludwig advised she had called the Police Department to report an illegally parked
car and the Police Department never came.
Staff advised they would check into the problem.
Mr. Don Gilley, 6712 Fair Meadow, also spoke on the code violations at 6700 Fair
Meadow.
Mr. Joe McCarthy, 5001 Strummer, spoke on the traffic conditions on his street. Mr.
McCarthy also asked about the closing of the streets in that area. Mr. McCarthy would
like the issue reconsidered.
Staff advised no formal action had been taken by the Planning and Zoning Commission
or the City Council on the closing of the streets. There was discussion on placing stop
signs at Strummer and Jerrie Jo.
Mr. Cliff Stevens, 9201 Kirk Lane, asked if the fire inspection would include commercial
buildings such as churches.
Staff advised routine fire inspections did include churches.
