HomeMy WebLinkAboutEDA 2002-03-27 Minutes NORTH RICHLAND HILLS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING March 27, 2002 MINUTES Board Members Present: Alan Young, Owner, Alan Young Buick-GMC Trucks Paula Grohman, Owner, Sir Speedy Printing Terry Willey, Manager, North Hills Mall Janet Golighty Owner, Golightly's Gallery Jim Makens, Owner, The Makens Company Board Members Absent: Don Waters, President, Summit Northeast Bank Randy Mores', CEO, North Hills Hospital Staff/Guests Present: Larry Cunningham, City Manager, City of NRH Steve Norwood, Assistant City Manager, City of NRH John Pitstick, Director of Development, City of NRH Mike Curtis, Director of Public Works, City of NRH Ashley Stathatos, Marketing and Research Coordinator, City of NRH Phyl Baloga, Administrative Secretary to Economic Development, City of NRH The City of North Richland Hills convened the first Economic Development Advisory Committee meeting for year 2002 in the Pre-Council Room at 11:50 a.m. Steve Norwood welcomed the E.D. Advisory Committee and mentioned that regularly scheduled meetings would not be necessary. Meetings would be held when direction and advise would be appreciated from the E.D. Committee. Currently the City is looking into a strategic plan for the Economic Development Department to decide where time and money would best be spent since there is a limited amount of funds. John Pitstick proceeded to take the floor and review the Development Report included in the packets passed out. Residential permits continue to be high with year 2001 being the best year so far. Commercial permits were down in the last couple of years due to the Mom 'n Pop businesses closing shop or moving to another Cities. Businesses located at major intersections have been fairing well and he feels the future looks bright. Without further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:09 p.m. 1
