HomeMy WebLinkAboutKNRH 2020-01-21 Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE KEEP NORTH RICHLAND HILLS BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS,TEXAS, HELD AT THE NORTH RICHLAND HILLS CITY HALL 4301 CITY POINT DRIVE JANUARY 21,2020 The Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission of the City of North Richland Hills, Texas met on the 215t day of January, 2020 at 5:45 p.m. in the Neighborhood Services conference room. A. CALL TO ORDER Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 5:54 p.m. Present: Kathy Luppy Chairperson, Place 6 Amy Hedgecock Place 1 Susan Young Place 3 Brandon Kelley Place 7 Absent: Amy Steele Place 2 MiShon Landry Place 4 Donah Tyner Place 5 Rene Martinez Alternate Staff Members: Kristin James,Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services Joyce Fister,Administrative Secretary, Neighborhood Services B. CITIZENS PRESENTATION No presentations. C. PUBLIC COMMENTS No Comments D. ACTION ITEMS D.1 Approve minutes of the November 19,2019 Keep North Richland Hills Beautiful Commission meeting. Motion to approve corrected Minutes, carried 4-0. E. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS E.1 Introductions Introduce newest member,Amy Hedgecock, to Commission. E.2 Discuss Governor's Community Achievement Award (GCAA) Kristin James had completed a draft of the answers to the questions on the Application for the GCAA. Each question was reviewed and discussed by the Commission, with a few suggestions made to improve the application. A question was brought up about including the fact that the Commission is an affiliate member of Keep America Beautiful. Further research will be done to verify that the membership is still valid. It was agreed that all members would further review the application and let Kristin James know of any questions or suggestions by January 31, 2020. Page 1 of 2 E.3 Review 2020 Keep HRH Beautiful Calendar Kristin James distributed copies of the 2020 calendar to the members for review. After discussion, a few dates will be corrected and the updated version will be emailed to members. E.4 Discuss Adopt-a-Spot Sign Inventory Kristin James advised the Commission that she had discovered several Adopt-a-Spot signs at various locations in the City that were in poor condition and that some signs had the names of citizens that were no longer active in the program. It was decided to table this item until the next meeting to determine the best way to do a complete inventory. E.5 Discuss Conducting a Community Windshield litter Survey Kristin James advised the members that a Litter Survey needed to be done in 2020. This would involve members driving the major corridors and larger side streets to determine the extent of Litter. It was suggested that doing this during the May, 2020 meeting. This will be further discussed at the next meeting. F. GENERAL INFORMATION F.1 Dates to Remember: Stefanie Martinez reminded the members of the following dates to remember: • Community Garden's Spring Gardening Seminar—February 1, 2020 • Keep NRH Beautiful Meeting—February 18, 2020 • GCAA Application Due—February 20, 2020 • Great American Cleanup/Texas Trash Off(AAH Cleanup#1)—March 28, 2020 G.
